BXTCHES Gotta Warn: Well, it doesn’t take a Rocket Scientist to figure out the this is a MC read and it should be noted that the MC genre is one of my absolute favorites. If you haven’t yet indulged in this gritty world, this is a great series to start your love affair with. But, I do want to point this out. This book is good, but in my opinion, the subsequent books in this series are better. Why do I tell you this? Because, I would hate for you to read this book and maybe not enjoy it as much as you wanted, and then decide that you’re not going to continue on with the series. Do I think that will happen? No, this is a really good book, but I am well aware that the first book in a series will usually determine whether or not a reader continues on with the series, so do right by the Reaper’s and see this series on till the end.
This book will mostly be told through the POV of our female lead, Marie. There are a few “Horse” chapters thrown in, but those are told in third person, not through his eyes.
Here’s the rundown: Marie has recently left her husband Gary. Don’t worry he deserved it, he was a very physically and mentally abusive asshole. But, since Marie left with nothing, she moves in with her brother, Jeff, in the trailer in which they grew up. Now, Jeff has worked himself in with the Reaper’s, a MC club a couple of hours away. Turns out, Marie’s brother is a computer whiz and with his hacking ability, is able to make large amounts of cash for the MC (can you see where this is going yet?). Marie meets members of this MC on one of their many visits to visit Jeff. Marie catches the interest of Horse and both are mutually attracted to one another.
Even though Marie was mistakingly taken as a “sweet butt”, and Horse enjoys teasing her occasionally by calling her one, really just to piss her off, he begins to have feeling for her. Enough so, to ask her to be his. Now, this is where things got messy. I don’t want to give too much away, but to continue, I need to tell you that Marie doesn’t feel to keen on being anyone’s property. She also doesn’t really understand the MC world and MC “speak”, so it’s difficult for her to comprehend that being the “property” or old lady of a member is really a term of respect. Too late anyways, she told Horse no and he didn’t take too kindly to being turned down. But, doesn’t matter, he finds another way in.
In a nutshell, Jeff gets into trouble with the club and must pay in blood, well, Horse decides that paying with Marie will be sufficient enough and since she made the decision to not be his old lady, she can be his house mouse instead. This is where the story really gets juicy and takes off.
Let’s discuss the supporting cast. It’s important because they are the subjects of the future books. For me, they were fantastic. They were written so good that they didn’t take away from the storyline of Marie and Horse, but was able to provide another layer to a complex story.
Time for the bedroom talk. Horse knows his way around a woman’s body, that’s for sure. Ahh, the sex in this book, will give your imagination a workout. It is super scorching and may make your toes curl. I swear I wish I had the sexual imagination that some of these authors had, in fact, I do believe that some of them could write screenplays for porn and make a hell of a living. I’ll just say, if your libido needs a little recharge, this book may be the jump start you need.
Can’t give anything else away or I would ruin your journey and where is the fun in that. But, I will tell you that this book has everything a good MC read should. It has one hell of an Alpha Male in all of its glory in Horse, as well as fantastic Alpha Male speak. I was unsure about the gumption of Marie, but she holds her own, and I always appreciate a strong female lead in a MC book, she needs to be able to be feisty and Marie definitely does that. It’s got the grit and crime in the storyline that you expect when becoming invested in another MC book. It’s got a great supporting cast, not only with the MC members, but the ladies as well. The sex is hot and abundant. The best part, is it’s capturing enough to keep the page turning. Enjoy.
