Resisting Ryann (Bad Boy Reformed Series, Book #2) by Alyssa Rae Taylor

BXTCHES Gotta Warn: Okay, BXTCHES, if you read book #1 (Raising Ryann) then you know that you were left on a cliffhanger. If you haven’t yet read that book, then you now know that it left us all hanging. You should know what I’m gonna say next. Yes, that’s right, YOU MUST FIRST READ BOOK #1, BEFORE YOU TAKE ON RESISTING RYANN. You will be very confused if you do not heed my warning. Hell, I read the first book and even I was somewhat bewildered with this one.

Like book #1, Resisting Ryann will be told through both Luke and Reese’s POV.

When Raising Ryann left us, we didn’t know much of what was going on. What we did know was this: After Reese finds a letter that basically leads her to believe that Luke is headed to Brazil to fight again, Luke goes with it and lets her believe that, that is in fact what is going on. As the reader, we know that it’s not the truth, even though we’re not sure what the actual truth is. What we do know is not only is Reese’s father, Andrew, involved, but so is Luke’s dad, Glenn.

So, I’m gonna give you a rundown, but I’m also most likely going to really confuse you. All I will say is hang on tight, it is a weird”ish” ride.

From the very beginning of Resisting Ryann, we know that Luke is working with his father, who is all the way illegal. If you remember from the first book, you know that Luke does not have a good relationship with his dad. In fact, even to say that their relationship is broken, is being kind. Now, we also find out pretty early on that Luke is working almost undercover, while keeping in contact with Reese’s father. I say almost undercover because not only is Luke not any part of law enforcement, but Reese’s father is no longer involved in law enforcement (he was at one time). Of course, Glenn has no idea that Luke is working behind his back, while he may very well be suspicious, he’s not convinced.

This time without Luke is very difficult for Reese. Because of a letter she has received from Luke, she believes that they are over and she has begun to seek a friendship with Sean, the neighbor. It’s tough for Reese because Luke is the first one she’s loved and it doesn’t help that her mom has moved across the country and her BFF/roommate is in love with Luke’s best friend. All around a very heartbreaking time for Reese.
If it is frequent, you need to visit the expert because they can only suggest you which of generic viagra for sale the herbal coffee. There would hardly viagra without be a doctor who would ask you to opt for a surgery instead of going for a medical treatment. buy viagra in uk ED is a condition in which a man is unable to actively conduct the process of medication.
That’s it, that’s all I can give you. Mainly because I wouldn’t even know how to put the majority of this book into words. It’s hard to really understand what is going on with Luke’s dad. You know he’s working with him, but the why’s behind it are a little convoluted. Obviously, they are on the wrong side of the law, but I never really understood why his dad needed him in particular. But that may be a question that is answered in the final book. As a reader it was frustrating. I personally prefer (for the most part) for a book to be told from both POV’s, and in Resisting Ryann, it was necessary. But knowing both perspectives sometimes made you want to scream. Especially because of the hurt that both Reese and Luke were suffering from.

The secondary cast definitely added more than Raising Ryann did. The characters that are involved with Luke’s dad can be baffling, but only because there is no introduction, they are just there, so you just have to go with it. In Raising Ryann, the focus was on Luke and Reese’s foundation, not so much the characters that surround them, in Resisting Ryann, it’s more important to lean on the supporting cast because for the majority of the book, Luke and Reese are separated. But overall, the addition and focus on the extra characters definitely will keep the reader engaged.

Ahhh, the sex. Once again, it’s really all about the sexual tension that the author brings to Resisting Ryann. Reese was a virgin when we left her in book #1 and SPOILER ALERT: she will be a virgin when you leave her here as well. Even though there is not actual intercourse happening here, there is a little sexual action and it is very well done. What it really is doing, is hiking up the anticipation level for when they finally give into one another, because let’s face, it must be coming, right?

Now, as strange as this book was, it kept me turning the page. I didn’t enjoy it as much as I did Raising Ryann and I think that I will enjoy Breaking Ryann (book #3) more. But of course, Resisting Ryann is a necessary evil of sorts. It’s the glue that will put the pieces of the puzzle together, well, at least I hope so.

Raising Ryann (Bad Boy Reformed Series, Book #1) by Alyssa Rae Taylor

BXTCHES Gotta Warn: I actually read this book for the first time back in 2013, so this was a re-read for me. I enjoyed it back then and I must say, that I did enjoy the second time around. This book will leave you on a cliffhanger, but no worries, book #2 has long been out so you can continue where this one leaves off. But for those of you who detest books that leave you on a cliffhanger, I’m not too sure what to say. Is the read worth the hang? Yes. But, I will leave it up to you.

This book will be told through the POV’s of both Luke and Reese.

Raising Ryann will begin 6 years earlier and I’m just going to cut to it because it’s somewhat confusing. Luke lives across the street from Reese and there is a 5 year age difference between the two of them. Now, Luke is actually living with foster parents, Pam and Jim, and this is his second time to be placed in their home. Reese lives with her mom, her parents are divorced because of her abusive father. Raising Ryann kicks off with Reese being dropped off at home where her mother’s boyfriend is. A boyfriend who happens to creep the hell out of Reese. While I’m sure you can guess what happens next, I’ll go ahead an lay it out for you. The boyfriend attacks and attempts to rape Reese, who is only 14 at the time. Luke is across the street, hears her screams, and saves her.

Fast forward 6 years and Luke is a MMA fighter and Reese is a college student teaching self-defense classes at a gym owned by Pam and Jim (Luke’s foster parents). All is going well for Reese. She lives on her own, albeit in a crappy apartment, but it’s hers, she loves teaching self-defense to young girls, she has a wonderful BFF, Gia, she just hasn’t been bitten by the love bug yet. Luke is getting ready to retire from fighting and has agreed to join the team in the gym ran by his foster parents. He of course knows who Reese is and that she works at the gym, once she sets her eyes on him, she senses familiarity, she just can’t place him.

In the beginning, Luke refers to Reese as “kid”, which doesn’t necessarily set well with her, especially since Luke is the first member of the opposite sex that has ever made the loins quiver. With a little help from Gia, Reese ditches the baggy clothes and dons outfits a bit more curve hugging, which does the trick with Luke. They spark a friendship and Luke continues his obligatory protectiveness over Reese. Of course, once she figures out who she is, it takes a bit for her to come around and accept Luke’s protectiveness.

It’s going to take a while for Luke to succumb to the way that he is feeling for Reese. And it shouldn’t be any secret that he and Reese get together and make a go at having a relationship.

I did enjoy this story. In fact, I think that Luke and Reese have wonderful chemistry. The difficult thing about Raising Ryann is this, since it’s a book that will be continued, it leaves a lot of unanswered and even confusing issues, which sometimes makes for a more complicated story than I’m sure is intended. Having said that, I do believe it’s worth the read.

The supporting cast in Raising Ryann are good, and while they are a necessity to the story, they’re not going to leave you with a lot of “ooh, I wonder what happened to. . .?” So, while they add a particular layer to a somewhat complicated story, they are not as intense as you would find in some books, but Luke and Reese come with their own intenseness, so it may not be required.

I know what you’re thinking, a hot MMA fighter, a woman who has gone through a lot, to only come out on the other side stronger. The sex between the two must be setting the sheets on fire. Well, you would be wrong. The only sexual happenings in Raising Ryann, is the tension. Now, having said that, I can say with certainty, that the tension is strong and the tension is thick. Reese has yet to turn in her V-Card, which is the culprit leading the tension charge and with hope, she will be changing her sexual status at some point during this series in what is promising to be quite explosive.

Raising Ryann is a good book, but like I mentioned there are a lot of unanswered questions that may affect its appeal. I have read the second book (although I am about to re-read) and from what I can remember, the unanswered question issue doesn’t really get solved. But, the book is well written, Luke and Reese have tremendous chemistry and they have some depth to them. This BXTCH thinks that this read is worth it and says to go for it.
