BXTCHES Gotta Warn: I should probably tell you that Say You’ll Stay is one of the best “movies” I have ever read. I know that sounds strange and once you read the book, I think you’ll understand. I’ve read one other book from Corinne Michaels (Consolation), which is crazy talk, considering the fact that I think her writing is glorious-I should probably rectify that soon. The only other warning I should probably issue to you is this, be ready to get all the feels, I may have only read just one book by Corinne Michaels, but that was enough for me to know that she is going to hit you right in that spot that makes you close your eyes, put your head back, and take in the deep breaths. Emotional? Yes. Worth it? Ahhhh, fuck yeah.
Say You’ll Stay will be told mainly through Presley’s POV with a couple of chapters through Zach’s eyes sprinkled in.
When I read the blurb for Say You’ll Stay, it lead me to believe that the situation with Presley and her husband Todd, ends in a more typical fashion than the one we were given. The only reason I’m gonna spill the beans is because the beans get spilled in the very first chapter, so that gives me the assurance I need that I’m actually not ruining it for you. While I knew that a betrayal certainly occurred, I was thinking that it was something along the lines of an affair. I wasn’t really prepared for Presley to find her husband hanging from the beams in their bathroom. I should probably give you some sort of “Presley backstory”.
Presley is from Bell Buckle, Tennessee. And it is as country as it sounds. Presley and Zach were “the couple”, the ones that everyone in town knew would grow old together. Presley followed Zach to college and the life that they envisioned was starting to pan out, until it wasn’t. Decisions had to be made and in the end, Zach walked away, leaving a very heartbroken Presley behind. Enter Todd.
Todd was the brother of Presley’s BFF Angie, and he was there to put the pieces of the heartbreak back together which lead to Presley and Todd falling in love, getting married, having twins and setting up home in Pennsylvania, taking Presley away from Bell Buckle and the memories there that haunt her. Never in a million years did Presley believe that her husband would be the catalyst that sends her back to the one place she swore she would never again call home.

Her husband choosing to leave his family the way he did, didn’t just leave Presley without a husband and her twins without a father, it left her penniless, which is what forces her move back to her parents and back into the life of the one she hasn’t seen in seventeen years, Zach.
I’m sure you can certainly see where it is that this story is headed. And if you can’t, let a BXTCH help you out. . .yes, it’s headed toward a Zach + Presley = Forever. But, first there are certainly obstacles standing in the way of that ever after. Secrets need to be exposed, girlfriends need to become ex, grief needs to flourish and Presley needs to come to terms that she is home and she need to figure out where it is her adult self fits in Bell Buckle.
Say You’ll Stay is a great book, but it’s the cast of characters that take a great story to a phenomenal story. There are some books that have the supporting cast as really just fill-ins, not that that is a bad thing, it’s not, it’s just a different type of book. This book requires the whole enchilada and boy does this BXTCH love some Mexican food. Every single character that touches the pages within this book, adds a layer that you would not be able to do without. Some add so much, that I’m gonna have to request an additional book(s) just to get more from them (ahem, Wyatt, Trent, Cooper. . .can you hear me Corinne Michaels?) There is not any part of this story that drags, that leaves you eager to get through the lull and that’s because there are so many characters that’s keeping you captivated.
While sex is present in Say You’ll Stay, it’s not what drives the story and it’s not quite as intoxicating as the sexual tension that builds between Zach and Presley. But no worries, it’s not the sex between the two that’ll have you falling in love, it is really the “meant to be, deep rooted, ever after” love that’ll win you over. I know, I know, it’s corny, but oh so true.
I meant it when I said that Say You’ll Stay is one of the best movies I have ever read. I think that when you dive in between the pages, your imagination will have it playing out like it was on the big screen (hint hint: someone put this on the big screen STAT). I could not put it down, even when my sister was over trying to have a conversation with me, I kept looking at my phone, just to get through the next chapter (I know, I’m such a BXTCH).
