Okay (Something More Series, Book #2)

BXTCHES Gotta Warn: It should go without saying that it is of the utmost importance that you first read Normal before jumping onto the intense ride that is Okay, but just in case you’re not sure, now you are. Read Normal first.

I already knew going into this book that I was going to have to somewhat psyche myself up, emotionally that is. This book was everything I hoped, desired, somewhat feared, and wanted it to be. Okay will pick right up where Normal left off and will be told through the POV’s of Sam and Rory.

We all know how the first book ended, with Rory leaving Sam in Miami, rewinding their relationship back to “friend” status. Even though Sam doesn’t want to go back to being friends, he reluctantly agrees, knowing he will do whatever it takes to keep Rory in his life. Trying to somewhat get her life back to a familiar semblance, Rory continues to go through the motions. Still hanging out with her friends, going to lunch, tutoring with Sam, all the while knowing that she wants more with Sam, but feels that it is safer to keep him at a friends length.

Leaving Miami in the middle of the night, without so much as a goodbye to Sam, was a very difficult decision for Rory. But from her perspective and thought process, she feels that Sam had already put himself in danger because of Rory and they hadn’t even been a “them” for more than 48 hours. So she did what she needed to, to protect Sam and Sam’s future. Of course, this theory never occurs to Sam and he sees it as her not feeling the love for him the way she declared.

If you want faster – the success of treatment, creating a chart to track your progress in reducing these behaviors and to work hard. levitra de prescription Since then to now, the medication has been successful for achieving endless fame and millions of satisfactory viagra on line uk users universally. On top of everything that Rory is going through, Sam has decided to forgive Chelsea and actually gets a little frustrated with Rory when she is a bitch towards Chelsea. Rory being female and having that radar that all females have towards other females, knows that Chelsea is no where near over her feelings towards Sam, and while Rory knows that Chelsea is most likely up to something, she decides to go with the flow where Chelsea is concerned. And trust me when I say that the storyline that is Sam/Rory/Chelsea was a little shocking, I didn’t even see it coming until the last minute.

I’m not going to give too much away, because this book is just too beautiful to ruin with spoilers. However, I can tell you that we haven’t seen the last of Robin, he will have to answer for his actions in Miami. We will also see old relationships healed (I can’t digress further) and new friendships blossom. The main focus of this book is really the relationship between Rory and Sam. We will see lots unfold, some that will bring a smile to your face and others that might make a tear fall, but I think that the most important thing that can be derived from this book is this: True love knows no age. True love is worth fighting for, regardless of where it may leave you in the end. True love will withstand anything and come out stronger on the other side. True love truly knows its counterpart, its other half and it doesn’t matter if you’re 18 or 88, when you find it, you should most definitely hold on with everything you have.

I’m so glad I happen to run across Danielle Pearl. She brings a gift to the written word. I’ve said this before about another author and I don’t really throw out this compliment often, but putting words on a page and having them engross the reader in a manner where saying “just one more chapter” isn’t even realistic, and as the reader, being able to read a story and try to capture it in your imagination and knowing that no movie will ever compare to what this story has given you, is a true talent and gift and one that this author should be so proud of. But more importantly, this reader would like to give a huge thank you to Danielle Pearl, because I read a lot and true enough a lot of stories stay with me. But this one, this one touched me in a way that is very difficult to do. I read books or choose certain books because they appeal to me in whatever fashion I desire at the time. Very rarely am I looking to learn something. This book can and will teach many lessons. So THANK YOU, Danielle Pearl. I cannot wait to read more from that wonderful mind of yours, it is truly a gift.

Dare (Brothers of Ink and Steel, Book #1) by Allie Juliette Mousseau

Dare (Brothers of Ink and Steel, Book #1)
So here is another gem of a story that I just so happened to come across. I actually think that it came across my Facebook feed and I sampled it just to see how I felt. After purchasing it, I couldn’t be more pleased.

This book is going to tell the stories of Sophie and Josh and is told through both POV’s. It is going to flashback to both of their dark pasts, while you will know immediately what the situation is with Sophie, it will take a while to reveal Josh’s tormented past.

The book will kick off with Bella (Sophie) and the night she decided to run from the abuse laid on her by her husband, who also happens to be a cop. She’s a new mother with a renewed desire to live for her daughter and realizes the best way to do that is on the run. When we are introduced to Josh, it will be in a flashback. He is being sent to live with his Uncle Cade because of an incident that will not reveal itself until much later in the book. All that is told is something serious has happened and in order to protect Josh it is best that he goes and lives with his uncle, who runs a group home for troubled teens. He also runs a gym where these teens can go and have another outlet for their aggression.

Once Bella, who is now Sophie, has ran from her abusive past, she receives her training in massage therapy and is introduced to Josh after he sustains injuries saving a small child in a house fire, oh yes, he is not only a UFC fighter, but he is a fire fighter to boost. It is determined that Sophie will make a great addition to his fighting staff and after some persuasion, she accepts the job as his massage therapist.

It is clear that there is some serious sexual tension between Josh and Sophie, but Sophie knows that for the sake of her and her daughter, it is best to not become involved with her employer. Once this is relayed to Josh, he throws down a wager. If he hits on Sophie first, he will up her salary to 100K, if she is the first to crack, then he gets his way with her for one night. It doesn’t take a genius to figure out that these two will hook up, it’s more of a matter of trusting the other with the information from their dark pasts.

I was very pleasantly surprised with this book. The author does a wonderful job telling the story through both POV’s. I didn’t really have too many issues with the storyline, I was a little baffled with why Josh was made a firefighter, when he was not only a very successful UFC fighter, but famous as well. Of course, with all bad ass fighter books, the male is usually some sort of a self proclaimed whore, who when he takes one look at the female lead, he begins to transform, it’s the same here. The one thing that I did appreciate, was the author didn’t allow any confusion between Sophie and Josh by mixing it up with added females, who are also vying for Josh’s attention. That would’ve added way more drama than necessary, especially with all that is already happening.

She did a great job with the supporting characters. Josh’s family was written beautifully and the love that they had for one another just poured from the page. Considering the hate that was projected towards his family at the beginning of the book, it was good to read. I also appreciated her introduction to the entire Ink and Steel gang. It obvious from the title that the subsequent books in the series will involve them. Their stay in the book wasn’t long, but she did just enough to tease you and anticipate the follow-up books. The development of Sophie’s daughter, Charlie was fantastic. The relationship that evolved between her and Josh was heart clutching.

I don’t think that this book was intended to be all about the sex, there was obvious intimate moments between Sophie and Josh. For me personally, this was not the strongest part of the book. I think that the scenes were written well, just not my speed. I do think that the sex was better in the beginning of their union than it was towards the end of the book. That’s not to say you won’t find the scenes hot.

All in all, a very good read. I look forward to the remaining books in this series. If you’re looking for a hot fighter book, know that this story really focuses on the relationship development between Sophie and Josh. It does have some focus on his fighting, but that is not the main storyline here.

Axel (Corps Security Series Book #1) by Harper Sloan

Axel (Corps Security)Axel (Corps Security)Synopsis TagAxel (Corps Security)Bxtches Be Blogging Book Reviews
Axel (Corps Security, Book #1)

WARNING: There is domestic violence in this book. The author does not sugarcoat the scenes, they are a bit rough. If this is a sensitive subject for you, please take it into consideration.

This is book one in the Corps Security Series and it is a fantastic start to a fabulous series. This book will focus on the relationship between Isabelle (Izzy) West and Holt (Axel) Reid. There is a lot of “book” packed into the 260 pages, so get ready and hang on to your emotions and your panties, because they will both be hanging on by a thin thread by the end of this rollercoaster.

This book is told through the POV of Izzy and Axel. I love it when an author uses both the H and h to tell the story. Most of the time I feel that it’s a perk. Maybe not completely necessary, but more of a bonus. In this story, it is totally necessary. These two characters are on opposite sides of the globe when it comes to the re-telling of “their” story.

Izzy and Axel met when they were in high school and fell madly in love. So much so that they planned out their future and new they were going to get a “happy ever after”. Axel is a foster kid, not from a very good foster home and as soon as the opportunity presents itself, he enlists in the Marines. Izzy is a year behind him, but they make plans to reunite as soon as his basic training is over. Tragic events occur to Izzy that will forever change the destination of her future plans.

I’m not spoiling anything when I tell you that because of one of the tragedies that struck Izzy, she is forced to move from Georgia to North Carolina and live with her grandparents. Afraid of losing contact with Axel, she does the only thing she can think of, and leaves her new address with Axel’s foster mom. Needless to say, but the address was never forwarded and Axel believes that Izzy left him and Izzy believes that Axel has been killed (that’s because the foster mom told her that).

Izzy goes to college, meets Brandon, marries Brandon, then gets beaten continuously by Brandon. She finally gains the strength to leave Brandon and begins her new life in Georgia with her BFF’s, Dee and Greg. This is in essence where the story actually begins.

Dee and Izzy met in college and became friends fast. When Izzy finds the strength to leave her husband, it’s Greg who helps Dee with Izzy’s situation. So, the three of them are thick as thieves and I love the way Ms. Sloan wrote their relationship. It was written in a very familial way, not a sexual one. You can feel the love that these three have for one another. Izzy and Greg share an unfortunate connection. Greg’s sister, Grace, was too in an abusive relationship. Sadly, she didn’t make it out alive, so the bond between them two is pretty unbreakable.

Greg owns a security business and it is growing so much, that he enlists the help of his military buddies to go into business with him. Surely now you can see where this is going. Axel happens to be one of the buddies. Greg knows Izzy’s past, but doesn’t know Axel as Axel, so he has never put two and two together. When circumstances force them to meet, shock is an understatement. For crying out loud, Izzy thought he was actually dead, so imagine seeing that ghost. Axel is of course pissed, because he did eventually find out that Izzy was married, so in true “Alpha Male” style, he becomes somewhat of a ass when they meet for the first time in twelve years.

I’m not going to give all the “fun” away, but this story doesn’t stop from the first page to the last. Izzy refuses to speak to Axel, which as the reader is a bit frustrating, because she is harboring a life altering secret that he deserves to know. I understand why the author kept the lack of communication the way she did, it’s just irritating when neither one of them would confront what happened. Now, obviously this is a love story and with that the H/h need to get their happy ending. Izzy and Axel finally do see the error of their ways, it just takes one ex-husband who doesn’t want to let go in order for that to happen.

Lots and lots of heartache through violence in this one, but in the end, it is a journey worth taking. The author does a great job in this book introducing you to the supporting characters. They will all get their book, but as the reader, it’s nice to have an established relationship when starting the remaining books.  All of the characters have terrific back and forth banter. The closeness of their group, is almost enviable. I love that Harper Sloan did not need to have any past females of Axel’s pop up. I appreciate that she had enough baggage for Izzy, that she didn’t need any additional baggage to add to the drama of their relationship.

To see the love that Axel and Izzy have for one another actually bring them their deserved fairytale is a very powerful thing. I enjoy reading a powerful alpha male, I mean don’t we all? What I think really brings out “alpha hotness” is when he is not afraid to put his vulnerability on display. My heart broke for everything that Izzy and Axel had to go through, but it was smiling by the time to last page was turned.

The sex scenes rock. As the reader, you know that Izzy is going to have some sort of an adjustment period, but boy, they did not disappoint in the steaminess of their needs. It was A LOT of pent up frustration and heartache and really twelve years of missing your other half, all thrown in to some serious bedroom games. I told you, panties-thin thread, hang on to em’.

All in all, this is a great start to a great series. Next up is Greg Cage’s story. I think that while these books are emotional to read, they are quick and very difficult to put down. I hope you enjoy them. I mean look at the cover, if you can’t get some sort of “gasm” just by looking at that, you are probably reading the wrong genre.
